Multiplayer Netrunner: N+1 Corps
(Originally posted on BoardGameGeek.)
Is there an existing multiplayer variant for Netrunner? I’m unable to find one on BGG (neither here nor on Netrunner (1996)).
I have two concepts (both blatantly stolen from Magic: The Gathering multiplayer formats) that might work, but need testing:
Two-Headed Giant
Four players, two runners and two corps. In this format, each corp teams up with a runner. The corp shares their bank account with the runner in return for assistance with the … competition. Score is also shared, but play to ~10 points (instead of 7). If either member of a team loses, the team loses.
World Economy
Any number of players, approx. equal in number of corps and runners. Sit around a table, alternating runner and corp. Play as normal, but credits may be used to bribe the active player. The problem with this variant is that corps wouldn’t necessarily want to share tags on runners (and runners might not want to share virus counters). Might be able to cheat around this by using poker chips instead of the built-in counters, but I’m not sure.
If there’s an existing, tested multiplayer format, I’d love to hear about it.
